FICSA participates in the stand up campaign |
|
The Federation of International International Civil Servants Associations (FICSA) joined the Stand Up campaign against poverty at its Workshop on General Services Salary Survey Methodology and HR Issues held in Bangkok from 13 -17 October.
On 17 October, the 74 participants and the 6 FICSA resource persons opened their session by Standing Up against poverty.
Two years ago, over 23 million people answered the call to STAND UP setting the first and largest Guinness World record of its kind. Last year, the movement grew massively to 43 million.
In 2000, leaders of 189 countries signed the Millenium Declaration agreeing to do everything in their power to end poverty. They pledged to do this by achieving the Millennium Development Goals, a roadmap to end extreme poverty by 2015.
From October 17-19 people will literally and symbolically STND UP and take a variety of actions to demande their governments deliver on their commitment to end extreme poverty.
