UN Cares Task Force, Videoconference, 2 December

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon formally launched UN Cares on 6 May 2008, indicating his wish that the UN system be a "model workplace" when it comes to HIV and that all UN system offices should implement the UN Cares 10 Minimum Standards by the end of 2011.

The Chair, Ms. Nancy Raphael, welcomed the participants and the newcomers of the UN Cares Task Force. The representative of Universalia presented a brief report on the development of the online monitoring tool for the UN Cares. He mentioned that the biggest challenge is to have the data available in a complete and comprehensive format.

The Regional Coordinators in Thailand, Moscow and Dakar each gave a brief update on their region.

The agenda of the next meeting of the UN Cares Task Force was then discussed and agreed by all members without any change. The meeting would take place in Geneva on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 January 2009. FICSA informed the group that they would not be able to attend the next meeting due to the 62nd session of the FICSA Council, which would be held in Paris from Monday 2 to Friday 6 February 2009.

A detailed update on the UN Cares working groups and on the collaboration between UN Plus and UN Cares was given. The review of the booklet would be finished by the end of December and would also be available in French by March 2009. The partnerships with UN Cares were also highlighted and it was announced that UN Cares and UN Plus collaborators would make a presentation to the FICSA Council and would present a model partnership agreement.
