FICSA Workshop on lodging an appeal in international organizations

Description
FICSA is organizing an English-speaking Workshop on lodging an appeal in international organizations which will take place in Geneva, UN Building, Villa Le Bocage on 11 November 2019.
The workshop will be presented by Attorney Neil Fishman. Mr. Fishman has nearly a decade of experience providing legal advice within the United Nations system, with expertise in employment law. He served as a staff member of numerous international organizations, including the World Trade Organization, Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and as part of the legal secretariat of the WHO Global Board of Appeal. He has training and experience in conducting harassment investigations within the United Nations context and is a certified and experienced workplace mediator.
The workshop is open to staff representatives and participants irrespective of their duty station of assignment and will run from 09h00 to 17h00.
Workshop programme
The workshop is aimed at enhancing staff representatives’ knowledge, expertise and confidence in using the appeal process within the UN common system. The workshop will explain appeal procedures and key legal principles, and examine the purpose and strategies of preparing successful appeals. It will also enhance participants’ understanding of objectives and potential remedies.
Participation fees
This workshop is for staff representatives only and provided free-of-charge for FICSA dues-paying members.* Members with consultative or observer status will be granted a 30 per cent discount.
For other participants, including staff representatives from non-FICSA member organizations a fee of CHF 200 per person will be charged.
Accommodation and general information
Participants will receive, upon confirmation of their participation, and payment if relevant, the provisional agenda and a general information document including on hotel accommodation.

Only 25 seats are available and will be confirmed on a first-come first-served basis, irrespective of the duty station of assignment. Therefore, to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to register well in advance of the deadline.
It is important to note that completing an application to participate in this workshop does not imply an automatic acceptance. You are therefore kindly requested to wait for the official confirmation before making any travel arrangements.
ALL TRAVEL RELATED EXPENSES AND DSA MUST BE FUNDED BY THE INDIVIDUAL STAFF ASSOCIATION/UNION OR ADMINISTRATION. FICSA cannot provide any financial assistance in this respect.
