Workshop programme

The first 2-day workshop on negotiating in the context of performance appraisals (9 and 10 October) is brought to you out of the common understanding that performance appraisals, a necessary corporate-wide exercise in order to ensure accountability and the production of deliverables, could result in conflict between a staff member and supervisor. This is a timely opportunity and space for staff representatives to assist a staff member so that the staff can strategize on the best way forward and bring about an acceptable resolution. This workshop will cover, inter alia, understanding policies and procedures; preparing for and meeting the staff member; analysing cases; preparing for and meeting with management; improving representation; preparing and presenting cases; and staff association/union agenda and action planning.

The second workshop on staff representation (12 and 13 October) will cover the main tasks of a staff representative and the skills needed. We recommend this as an essential training course for all staff representatives as it covers the basic understanding of the role of the staff representative and deals with:
