FICSA WORKSHOP: OVERVIEW OF THE PA METHODOLOGY USED FOR GENEVA
It is with great pleasure that the Federation is providing an impactful workshop which will take place on Thursday, 11 January 2018 from 09h00 to 17h00 at UNAIDS Geneva, Kofi Annan Room, ground floor. The workshop will be an overview of the post adjustment methodology used for Geneva, assumptions made, data used, calculations done and the resulting proposed cut in pay for Professional staff. The presenter will be Mr. Kieran Walsh, Senior ILO Statistician and one of the statisticians sent by the Geneva HR Network to New York to examine the datasets of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC). You will recall that the HR Network subsequently debunked the arguments of the ICSC which urged the UN common system to uphold the proposed to cut pay.
The workshop is targeted at three different groups of people, namely:
- Staff representatives of Geneva-based and other HQ duty station organizations who feel compelled to learn these intricacies so that they can comfortably explain the issues to their constituents.
- Staff representatives who will be attending the upcoming ACPAQ meeting in New York in February 2018.
- Lawyers who are litigating at the UNDT/UNAT and ILOAT on this pay cut issue.
Exceptionally, unlike other FICSA courses/workshops/trainings, this one-day workshop will be provided free-of-charge to all staff associations and unions regardless of whether they are FICSA members or not. However, due to space limitations, registration is mandatory and enrolment is on a first come, first served basis. To reserve your seat please complete the attached application form and return it to the FICSA secretariat: ficsa(at)unog.ch by no later than 4 January 2018.
Since the fight against the pay cut is clearly not yet over, we hope that many of you can join us in January for this exciting and highly-enlightening workshop.
