FICSA training on job classification (18 and 19 June 2012) in combination with the workshop on GS salary survey methodology I (20 to 22 June 2012) at the IAEA in <st1:city><st1:place>Vienna</st1:place></st1:city>

The Federation of International Civil Servants' Associations (FICSA) is pleased to announce that the next training course on job classification will be hosted by the IAEA Staff Association in <st1:city><st1:place>Vienna</st1:place></st1:city> on 18 and 19 June 2012 in combination with the FICSA workshop on GS salary survey methodology I (20 to 22 June 2012).


The training on job classification will be presented in English by Mr. Aaron Peacock, IAEA specialist in the matter. The workshop is aimed at enhancing staff representatives’ knowledge, expertise and confidence in job classification. The following is a brief outline of the 2-day workshop on the new GS classification standard (NMS):

·         Brief outline of the principles of classification

·         Explanation of classification standards used in the UN-system

·         Concise history of the origins of reform in the UN-system

·         Role played by classification within the broader reforms

·         Explanation of the GLD and NMS, and guidelines on their use

·         Outline of the GS standard: factors and sub-factors, levels within each factor

·         Hands-on exercises, confidence in use of the system


NB. It should be noted that the NMS only works on Windows machines running Explorer.The FICSA Workshop on the revised General Service salary survey methodology I (headquarter duty stations only) will be conducted in English by Mr. Franco Di Pancrazio, FICSA Resource Person.

 

Workshop programme

The aim of the workshop is to enhance the knowledge of salary survey techniques to the maximum extent possible by providing participants with a detailed overview of the revised methodology for field duty stations, covering survey participants roles and responsibilities as well as due proceedings. Within the framework of the methodology, the following phases will be analyzed: preparatory work, data collection, data analysis, construction and approval of the new salary scale. Interim adjustment procedures and special measures (inflation, devaluation and other situations) will be reviewed as well.


The combined workshop is free-of-charge for staff representatives of FICSA member organizations.
A fee of CHF 550 per person will be charged to all participants from a non-FICSA organization.
A reduced fee of CHF 500 per person is charged when two or more participants are enrolled from the same organization and duty station.
Payment can be made in any currency at the equivalent rate and applying the UN RoE.

Information on hotel accommodation will be sent directly to the participants upon confirmation of their participation.

To apply, please use the form provided below. Nominations should be signed by the President of the local staff association/union and sent to the FICSA General Secretary by no later than 30 May 2012. Seats will be confirmed on a first-come first-served basis, irrespective of the duty station of assignment. The number of participants is limited to 20. Therefore, it is advisable to register well in advance of the deadline.


ALL TRAVEL-RELATED EXPENSES AND DSA MUST BE PROVIDED BY THE INDIVIDUAL STAFF ASSOCIATION/UNION OR ADMINISTRATION. FICSA cannot provide any financial assistance in this respect.
