The Federation of International Civil Servants' Associations (FICSA) is pleased to announce that a two-day staff representative training workshop on “Staff Union/Staff Association Officer Training” will be held at the International Maritime Organization in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">London</st1:place></st1:city> on 31 October and 1 November 2011. The workshop will be conducted in English by an experienced trainer from the UK-based Trades Union Congress (TUC).

The workshop is designed to develop the skills of key senior association/union personnel such as the president, vice-president or executive members to understand the need to develop and implement effective plans for the future of the staff union/association and federations. It will cover administration issues, identifying and addressing organizational gaps, and developing staff association/union capacity, effectiveness and membership.

The workshop is free-of-charge for staff representatives of FICSA member organizations (full and associate). 

A fee of CHF 400 per person will be charged to all participants from a non-FICSA organization.

A reduced fee of CHF 350 per person is charged when two or more participants are enrolled from the same organization and duty station.

The Workshop timetable, along with information on hotel accommodation, will be sent directly to the participants upon confirmation of their participation.

To sign up please use theattached application form.  Nominations should be signed by the President/Chair of the local staff association/union and sent to the FICSA Secretariat <ficsa@unog.ch>by no later than 7 October 2011.  Seats will be confirmed on a first-come first-served basis, irrespective of the duty station of assignment. The number of participants is limited to 18.  Therefore, it is advisable to register well in advance of the deadline.</ficsa@unog.ch>

ALL TRAVEL-RELATED EXPENSES AND DSA MUST BE PROVIDED BY THE INDIVIDUAL STAFF ASSOCIATION/UNION OR ADMINISTRATION.  FICSA cannot provide any financial assistance in this respect.
