FICSA demands the highest level of transparency, due process and sound financial management across the UN’s operations, including those related to management of the UN Joint Staff Pension Fund.
The Federation is well aware that the OIOS is looking into allegations and is therefore awaiting the results before moving forward in the best interest of the UN Family.
FICSA believes that the colleagues who are responsible for the future security of our retirement should be employed under UN conditions of service. Last year, FICSA joined those expressing concern about rumoured proposals that would have moved the Pension Fund Secretariat staff from their UN contracts. We are pleased that these proposals are apparently no longer under consideration.
The Federation has continued its advocacy for the equal recognition of legally valid marriages and partnerships of all participants in the Pension Fund, and full alignment with the Secretary-General’s Bulletin on personal status. We are encouraged by our discussions to date with staff in the Pension Fund secretariat and will keep the membership informed of progress.
FICSA will keep its membership posted.
