Ms. Wadzanai Garwe joined the FAO Investment Centre in December 2010, and the Association of Professional in FAO in April 2011. She has held the posts of representative for the investment centre, deputy field secretary, treasurer, and General Secretary of AP in FAO and acting chairperson of the FICSA Standing Committee on Social Security and Occupation Health and Safety (SocSec OHS).
She has over 35 years of experience in emergency and rural development as an economist. Wadzanai is a mother of two, an author, an activist and a firm believer in the power of economic empowerment. Her passion is taking action to ensure that developing countries find appropriate and innovative solutions to combat poverty, debt, poor governance and disease.
She holds a M.Sc. in community economic development from Southern New Hampshire University in New Hampshire, USA and a B.Sc. in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park, USA. Wadzanai is passionate about staff representation and the need for management and staff to communicate in order to create the most ideal working environment.

Cosimo, or Mino as he is known by the staff of the UN Common System, has a strong background in international logistics and the startup and winding down of Peacekeeping Missions.
He is a HR Professional with specialization in international recruitment and in vetting international recruitment processes. He has extensive experience in organizational review and restructuring processes.
He had over twenty years of staff representation experience, in various function as the President of the UNGSS Brindisi Staff Union, as well as having served as the European Representative for the Federation of International Civil Servants Associations and Coordinator for the Federation of National Staff Association.
Prior to being elected as the General Secretary of FICSA, Mino was the Chair of the Field Standing Committee in FICSA.

Jérôme was elected Treasurer during the 75th FICSA Council in 2022.
Joined WHO/HQ in 2015 and was elected staff representative in 2019. Currently treasurer of the WHO/HQ Staff Association.
Member of the Geneva Local Salary Survey Committee and serves as WHO/HQ staff representative for General Services and Professional categories salary surveys.

Mrs Véronique ALLAIN is Senior Team Assistant within the UN ENVIRONMENT out-posted office, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD), in Montréal, Canada. She has been working at the SCBD since 1999, with previous experience in other international organizations, i.e. the World Bank in Washington D.C., UNIDO and the French Delegation to the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE, now the OSCE) in Vienna, Austria. Véronique has been a member of the Executive Committee of the SCBD Staff Association since 2000, in various capacities (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Information Officer). She has been designated as the FICSA Focal Point within the SCBD SA since joining FICSA in 2002.
Véronique has been closely involved with the Federation since 2007 in various roles, such as Regional Representative for the Americas, Member without Portfolio and Member for Field and Regional Issues. Véronique holds a Bachelor’s degree in English literature, with a certificate in translation (from English or German or Spanish into French) from the Université Catholique de l’Ouest, in France. Being a passionate linguist, Véronique is fluent in four languages and has developed a great interest for field-related matters at the FICSA level, in particular advocating for staff members working for the UN, but away from the Headquarters, the so-called H duty stations.
Her versatile personality and experience help her blend very well in an international work-setting where she enjoys the company of colleagues coming from all parts of the World.

Oleksandr Martynenko has been with WHO since 2015, working at country and headquarters levels. In 2017-2019, Oleksandr served as a member of EURSA Staff Committee advocating for interests and career opportunities for locally recruited staff members. During 2019-2021 Oleksandr worked in Geneva where he participated in the work of HQ staff association. Since January 2022, Oleksandr leads WHO office in Pristina.
Oleksandr’s motivation to join the FICSA Executive Committee team is driven by the commitment to continue advocating for the improvement and safeguarding of staff working conditions, whereby all staff – regardless of their grade, position or duty station – enjoy respectful and safe working environment. Oleksandr is a firm believer that changes occur not from wanting them but from making them happen – and he is determined to work with fellow colleagues to make UN Common System a better place to be.
