Workshops participation

FICSA organizes training workshops on the methodology used to determine the salaries of General Service staff. There are two separate methodologies: one is used for headquarters duty stations and the other for non-headquarters duty stations. The aim of the workshops is to train staff in the use of salary survey techniques by providing a thorough review of the methodology. The training covers the role and responsibilities of survey participants. Basic concepts related to the system of job evaluation and job classification are also addressed. The following phases of the survey are analyzed: preparatory work, data collection, data analysis, construction and approval of the new salary scale. Interim adjustment procedures and special measures (inflation, devaluation and other situations) are also presented.

Participation is intended principally for staff serving in the region in which the workshop is organized. However, participants may be enrolled irrespective of their duty station of assignment. Staff from duty stations earmarked for comprehensive salary surveys in the ensuing months are encouraged to attend.

More information are on the FICSA Training Fund Guidelines and Form

Information about the venues is posted on the website around two months prior to each workshop.
