The next training course on the legal appeal process in international organizations will be held, with the kind assistance of the PAHO/WHO Staff Association, in the <st1:place><st1:placename>OAS</st1:placename> <st1:placetype>Building</st1:placetype></st1:place> (<st1:address><st1:street>1889 F Street, N.W.</st1:street>, <st1:city>Washington</st1:city> <st1:state>D.C.</st1:state> <st1:postalcode>20006</st1:postalcode>, <st1:country-region>USA</st1:country-region></st1:address>) on Thursday, 27 October 2011. The training will be presented in English by the Federation's Legal Advisor, Mr. Laurence Fauth, with the kind support of CAP Insurance. 

The workshop is aimed at enhancing staff representatives’ knowledge, expertise and confidence in using the appeal process within the UN common system, including identifying and understanding relevant substantive and procedural rights, writing effective appeals and understanding possible remedies. In interactive exercises, participants will tackle some common issues that have been decided by administrative tribunals.

Please note that workshops are free-of-charge for staff representatives of FICSA dues-paying member organizations. [See footnote.] 

However, a fee of CHF 300 is charged for other participants, including staff representatives from non-FICSA member organizations.

A reduced fee of CHF 250 per person is charged in the case when two or more participants are enrolled from the same organization and duty station.

The Workshop programme, along with information on hotel accommodation, will be sent directly to the participants upon confirmation of their participation.

Nominations should be signed by the President of the local staff association/union and sent to the FICSA General Secretary ficsa(at)unog.ch; by no later than 14 October 2011.  Seats will be confirmed on a first-come first-served basis, irrespective of the duty station of assignment. The number of participants is limited to 30.  Therefore, it is advisable to register well in advance of the deadline.

ALL TRAVEL-RELATED EXPENSES AND DSA MUST BE PROVIDED BY THE INDIVIDUAL STAFF ASSOCIATION/UNION OR ADMINISTRATION.  FICSA cannot provide any financial assistance in this respect.
