Deadline for applications: 30 September 2018
The Federation of International Civil Servants' Associations (FICSA) is pleased to announce that it has organized, with the kind assistance of the Union of General Service Staff of FAO/WFP in Rome and the generous support of the FAO Administration, the following workshops:
- 8 and 9 October: Staff representation
- 11 and 12 October: Negotiation skills
Both workshops will be held at the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy, at the following address:FAOViale delle Terme di CaracallaI-00153 Rome
and will be conducted in English by an experienced trainer from the UK. Meeting room details will be communicated directly to the participants.
The first 2-day workshop on staff representation will cover the main tasks of a staff representative and the skills needed. We recommend this as an essential training course for all staff representatives as it covers the basic understanding of the role of the staff representative and deals with:
- Handling workplace problems
- Working with your employer
- Communicating effectively
- Finding information and keeping records
- Taking an active part in the association/union.
The second two-day workshop on negotiation skills will examine different negotiating styles and strategies and include sections on preparation for negotiations and managing agreements after negotiations have been concluded.
Please note that these workshops are provided free-of-charge to staff representatives from FICSA dues-paying members.*
A fee of CHF 400 per workshop is charged for other participants, including staff representatives from non-FICSA member organizations for each workshop.
For FICSA members with consultative or observer status (from organizations not listed in the footnote), a 30% discount will be granted on the total amount.
Accommodation and general information
Participants will receive, upon confirmation of their participation, a general information document which will include recommendations on hotel accommodation.
Please complete the attached application form before the above-mentioned deadline.
Seats will be confirmed on a first-come first-served basis, irrespective of the duty station of assignment. Therefore, to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to register well in advance of the deadline.
It is important to note that filing an application to participate in this workshop does not imply an automatic acceptance. You are therefore kindly requested to wait for the official confirmation before making any travel arrangements.
All travel-related expenses, including DSA, must be funded by the individual staff association/union or administration. FICSA cannot provide any financial assistance in this respect.
We look forward to receiving your early reply.Application formProvisional agenda Negotiation Skills TrainingProvisional agenda staff representatives training
